Is Wireless Gaming The Next M-Commerce?
from the play-quake-on-your-phone! dept
Wireless gaming might be the next m-commerce in terms of overhype. IDC is predicting over 70 million wireless gamers in the US by 2007. The industry has been struggling for a killer app for the last 3 years and the pressure is only mounting with carriers deploying new networks. Gaming has tremendous potential, but the industry must be careful not to latch onto gaming as the data panacea. Making wireless gaming a compelling user experience while generating significant revenues will require cooperation across many fronts. It's very doable, but the industry must avoid its tendency to over-promise and under-deliver.
