PCWorld has an article detailing the efforts of Hollywood to stop file sharing at companies and at schools. Most of this is well known already, but this article also includes a few stories about what companies and universities are doing. They mention that computers at Dell are searched once a year to see if they contain any "illegal" files - and then the employees have the opportunity to remove them or face disciplinary action. Now, here's a question... If someone rips their own CD, which they own, for personal use on their own computer, and don't share it with anyone else... that's perfectly legal and within their fair use rights. However, under Dell's policy, that employee could be disciplined.
