Rewiring P2P Networks To Avoid Hollywood Hacking

from the routing-around-political-damage dept

When politicians start doing silly things with technology, leave it to the technologists to view such hurldes as obstacles and figure out a way around them. The lastest is some computer science students from Stanford who say they've figured out a way to prevent the type of Hollywood-backed hacks that the Berman Hollywood Hacking bill would allow. Basically, it looks to make sure that the requests are legitimate requests instead of denial of service requests. It's an interesting modification - and not everyone thinks it would work in real world situations. Either way, it's good to see that people are trying to figure out ways to get around any silly legislation that might create a lot more problems than it solves.
