Europe's Microsoft Alternative
from the who-cares-about-Microsoft dept
There have been more and more stories like this one lately, and it makes you wonder if it really matters at all what happens with the Microsoft anti-trust lawsuit/settlement. This particular version is about an area of Spain that is trying to convert completely to Linux-based computing for two reasons: (1) to save money by not having to pay the Microsoft tax and (2) to not be beholden to an American company. So far, they've had a few difficulties, but it seems they've worked out a lot of the early kinks. Many people barely notice the difference in their computing environments.
