uDrive Me Crazy
from the not-so-user-friendly dept
It's become fairly common to find articles that talk about just how silly the new BMW i-drive system is, but Popular Science figured they might as well go ask a user interface expert. So, they put Jeff Raskin (designer of the original Macintosh) into one for a few days and asked him for his thoughts. It seems that he agrees with just about everyone else. The i-drive system is awful. It's incredibly confusing, and makes the process of driving more difficult. The reporter wonders if other car manufacturers will take the basic idea (simplifying all the knobs in a car) and improve on it. Raskin is afraid that it will become worse as marketers take over and try to add even more useless and confusing features.
