A Dorm For Dreamers
from the I-wish-I-had-this... dept
For a few years it was cool to say you started a company out of your college dorm room. These days, such things are met with a bit more skepticism, but the University of Maryland has created a special dorm for student entrepreneur wannabes. It sounds like a great place. The dorm will have fancy conference rooms, white boards, wireless connectivity, and a phone system that will ring both your dorm and mobile phone at the same time. They also bring in speakers and mentors to help the students along. Most importantly, though, it puts a bunch of entrepreneurial students together and lets them do their thing. Out of 100 students currently in the program, 20 have already started up companies - six of which are making money. It really sounds like a great program. I wonder if other universities will start imitating it.
