Websites Go Dark To Protest Spanish Monitoring Law
from the silly-legislators dept
Why is it that mixing politicians with the internet always seems to create terrible results? The latest is a planned law in Spain that would require websites to register themselves with the government, and force ISPs to monitor the content on their servers for “illicit” content. This is the same ridiculous idea that seems to show up in country after country until someone explains to politicians how the internet works. In protest, a number of Spanish websites have gone offline. Whether or not the Spanish politicians notice or care, remains to be seen.
