Toilet Research Big In Japan
from the no-toilet-humor-here dept
The NY Times apparently found fit to print the story that Japanese toilet makers are battling back and forth over who can make the most high tech commode. There are toilets that do medical tasks, such as telling you your body-fat, or ones that create a more "zen-like" experience, automatically raising the seat, changing the temperature in the room (yes, toilet based air conditioning) or playing relaxing music to accompany you as you do your business. They expect that these toilets will soon start showing up outside of Japan as well, and they're hoping it'll be big business. Of course, some, more traditional, types are worried that these fancy new porcelin thrones will make people soft.
