Not So Anonymous Surfing At Work
from the it-was-a-nice-try... dept
Anonymizer has released their latest product with a marketing pitch telling people that it lets them get around being monitored at work. Of course, the companies that sell monitoring software say that's not the case. They've already adjusted their products to make sure that Anonymizer doesn't work. Anonymizer's response? They were just kidding about that marketing tag line. They don't think anyone would actually take them seriously about that - and there are plenty of other uses for anonymous browsing, and that's what they're really targeting. Personally, I still think that it's a bit silly for most companies to employ monitoring software, but if they really want to show their employees how little they trust them, then I guess that's their right.
