The Anonymous CEO

from the not-like-the-others dept

Not specifically about technology, but Business 2.0 is running a profile about the CEO of Colgate, which is somewhat refreshing following all the various corporate scandals to come out this year. It seems that Reuben Mark, whose been CEO for 18 years, has been extremely successful, and has done it quietly, without taking credit publicly for himself. He doesn't do interviews. He doesn't do CNBC. He doesn't run the company for Wall Street. He just focuses on Colgate's core businesses and tries to help them make more money. It's nice to be reminded that CEOs like that still exist.

    Good to Great

    by Bill

Read Jim Collins book 'Good to Great.' He discusses the types of leaders out there and Reuben Mark seems like a perfect "Level 5" leader. In a nutshell, the book is a look at the difference between good companies and great companies (the distinction between good companies and great companies is a good read by itself).
