Looking At Online Grocery Shopping

from the demand,-but-concerns dept

Online grocery shopping has been a bizarre market to watch over the past few years. There were stories of failure after failure (after failure), and now suddenly some possible success stories coming out of established brick-and-mortar grocery stores. This First Monday article looks at the various studies about online grocery shopping, and says there's a clear demand for the service. People like it for the convenience. Apparently, many people consider grocery shopping stressful, and doing it online takes away some of the stress. However, the problems came on execution. Consumers weren't satisfied with what the online grocers were offering and didn't trust them enough to send over their personal information.

I tried peapod when it was available locally. While it was a neat idea there interface at the time was way to slow. I spend more time ordering online than I did going to the store.
