Chipping A Child Is Assault
from the fighting-back dept
Earlier this week we posted a story about Kevin Warwick, the publicity generating professor in the UK who simply loves to put computer chips into people. His latest effort is to put a chip into an 11-year-old girl on the offchance she happens to be kidnapped. The article we linked to that time went to great lengths to point out why this was a pretty stupid idea and unlikely to work. Now, an "electronics expert" in the UK is so upset by the plan that he's trying to stop the implant procedure from happening at all, claiming that it is "assault". He says the procedure has no medical value, and is being performed on someone who cannot properly consent to it. He's been calling all sorts of authorities to try to get them to listen, but it's unclear if anyone really cares.
