Text Message Bullying Gets Ugly

from the psychological-damage dept

Last month we posted an article about how bullying by text message was a growing problem in the UK. Now Wired has picked up on the same story and talks about the psychological damage SMS bullying can cause. At first I didn't see how text messaging bullying is really any different than your standard everyday bullying, but I guess the anonymous nature of it - as well as the fact that people feel they can't get away from it, makes it worse. The article also seems to blame the British class system for making British text message bullying even more psychologically damaging that bullying elsewhere - though I'm not sure I put any weight in that. Are kids really meaner in the UK, or is it just because they're calling more attention to it right now?
