Intel's Option Decision Changes The Playing Field

from the interesting-ideas dept

An interesting opinion piece by Scott Herhold points out that Intel's decision last week not to expense their options was done in a way that changes the playing field on the debate over expensing options. Not only did Intel say that they weren't expensing options, they also said that they would more clearly explain the impact of their options grants. To some extent, this is a "middle ground" solution that might even be more accurate for accounting purposes. It also suggests that (despite much of the rhetoric going around) that not expensing options isn't necessarily an evil corporate move designed to hide things.
