Glen Reynolds On Hollywood Hacking Bill
from the different-take dept
Chris writes "Glenn Reynolds has an interesting column up. He sees the Hollywood Hacking bill more as an assault on competition from independant artists than a direct result on consumers. I know that the vast majority of my music purchases over the last year have been artists either self publishing or on small indie type labels. And in every case I sampled multiple MP3's before deciding to invest in the audio CD." I'm not sure I'd give the music industry that much credit to be able to think that deeply through the issue. I think this might be a nice side benefit to the bill that they're more than willing to take.
