Sprint Accused Of Spamming, Tries To Intimidate Accuser

from the bringing-down-spam dept

In Utah a man has filed a class action lawsuit against Sprint for spamming him, in violation of Utah's anti-spam law. The email advertisement didn't include "ADV" or the company's full name and mailing address - all of which are required by the law. In response, Sprint - in what is clearly an attempt to intimidate the guy - asked to have the guy's hard drive turned over to them while the case is pending. This is an extreme and needless request - which is only intended to make the guy regret accusing Sprint. Luckily, the judge has denied the request. Unfortunately, going after a company like Sprint for spamming is unlikely to do anything about the real spam that we get every day.
