Indian ISPs Thinking About Extortion Of Major Sites As A Business Model

It appears that some Indian ISPs have taken a page from the play book of many local gangsters. They're thinking about asking many of the major destination websites (such as Yahoo!, Amazon, and eBay) to pay up, or they'll be blocked. While it's an interesting attempt at changing the business model for an ISP, it's unlikely to work. Blocking the sites that your customers want to get to is a pretty definite way to make sure they're not your customers much longer.

Block them
Why now block India then? Let them pay to access information from our universities. Prevent them from emailing family back home. This should help cover the costs.
