Scient: Files For Chapter 11
from the they're-still-around? dept
Scient, along with it's half-sister company Viant, were the two big "new economy consulting" firms that grew like crazy during the boom years. There was a (incredibly ridiculous) period of a few months where having a deal signed with either company guaranteed your startup the ability to raise money. I remember stories of Scient laughing some prospective clients out the door, and telling them they'd never be able to raise money, unless they agreed to give a large percentage of it straight to Scient to build their product. However, today, the first thing I thought when I saw that Scient had filed for Chaper 11 bankruptcy protection was "wow, they're still around?". Not any more.
