Anti-Email Wednesdays
from the no-email-for-you! dept
It seems the Liverpool City Council is sick of its employees sending each other emails which pass-the-buck, rather than actually communicating with each other to solve problems. They've decided, as an experiment, to ban internal email communications on Wednesdays, to encourage staffers to talk to each other. They'll still be able to email externally, and won't actually get in trouble if they break the ban - but it will be "frowned upon". I think it would be more fun if this trend were expanded. So, no instant messaging on Mondays, no web surfing on Tuesdays, no email on Wednesdays, no mobile phones on Thursdays, and no talking (at all) on Fridays. Think how much more productive everyone would be?
