Microsoft Putting PVR Functionality In Xbox
from the of-course-they-are dept
Not quite sure what the fuss is about, but Reuters is trumpeting the fact that Microsoft has been "secretly" working on a new version of the Xbox with PVR-like fucntionalities included. I didn't think this was much of a secret. We mentioned it here as a confirmed project six months ago (and predicted it even earlier), but just about anyone could see the two devices converging (sped up by Microsoft's shuttering of their own UltimateTV division, and sending a bunch of those employees over to Xbox). The Reuters article comes out of a throwaway paragraph in a Red Herring article talking about Microsoft's plans to take heavy losses on selling Xboxes in order to establish themsleves in the marketplace.
