Intertrust's Entire Business Model: Sue Microsoft For Patent Infringement

from the nice-work-if-you-can-get-it dept

There was a time when InterTrust actually sold some sort of product. Now, however, it seems their entire business model is based on suing Microsoft for patent infringement. Their latest effort includes tripling the number of patent infringement claims they have pending against Microsoft to a grand total of 144. The company is also quite excited that they bullied Sony into paying up some licensing fees instead of going to court. The $28.5 million from Sony is significantly more revenue than the company was ever making actually selling stuff, and they're going to plow most of it into other lawsuits to make even more money out of nothing.
