Technology Should Save Time

from the call-to-action dept

The folks over at the Inquirer have realized that "featurebloat" is part of the problem the tech industry is facing these days. Instead of trying to design systems and applications that make people's lives easier, they load them up with complex whizbang features that look nice, but are practically useless. So, they're suggesting, if you're trying to design new software, that you remember the purpose is to save time. Unless, of course, you're making games - in which case the opposite is probably true. It sounds like obvious advice, but every once in a while people need to be reminded of the obvious.
