Justice Department Appeals Library Filter Ruling To The Supreme Court

from the here-we-go-again dept

Well, it's not over yet. The Justice Department is appealing the tribunal ruling about filters in libraries. If you haven't been following the case, a three judge panel ruled last month that libraries shouldn't be forced to use internet filters on their computers in order to keep receiving federal funding. They said it was a free speech issue, because the filtering products don't work very well. The Supreme Court, of course, could simply dismiss the appeal and not hear the case, but if they do decide to take it on, we won't have a ruling on this for quite some time.
