Amazon Goes For Mail Order Catalogs

from the aren't-they-just-a-big-mail-order-catalog-already? dept

Some people already think that Amazon is really just a big, electronic mail order catalog, so perhaps they're just getting in touch with their roots, as they partner with some mail order catalog providers to put their catalogs online. Right now, you can't actually order online from those catalogs, but Amazon provides the phone number of the catalog company as well. This does seem like a fairly simple way for Amazon to expand into new areas, but it's always difficult when they don't control the rest of the experience. If people have a bad experience with the catalog company, will that then reflect poorly on Amazon?
