Wireless LANs Are Competitive With 3G
from the the-debate-continues dept
For a while, it seemed that the "wireless LANs vs. 3G" debate had died down, as most people accepted that they were complementary, and not competing, technologies. However, it seems that not everyone agrees. It's certainly looking more and more likely that WiFi hotspots will be able to steal some business away from 3G systems. If you're going to be sitting out somewhere, surfing the internet - are you going to prefer the easy to use, faster, unlimited service, or the slower, more costly system? While 3G certainly has more power in terms of coverage, as hotspots continue to grow (especially in urban areas) they could take a serious chunk of business away from what the wireless carriers expected to be theirs.
