Altnet Launching
from the the-overture-of-file-sharing dept
So the very controversial Altnet is finally launching. Altnet, of course, was installed secretly on anyone's computer who installed Kazaa recently. However, it was never clear exactly what the app would do. The first thing it's going to do is act as a sort of "Overture" of P2P networks. If you do a search on a specific term to find a song or other type of file, if someone has bought that keyword, Altnet will point you to their file - which you might have to pay for. Basically, they're trying to sneak pay-for material onto the normally free Kazaa network. It will be interesting to see how people react to it.
