Creeps, Crime & Online Dating
from the watch-out dept
In the past I've pointed out that while online dating works for some people, and certainly has become very mainstream, it still strikes me as a questionable way to meet someone. However, to hear about a study in Japan that says "online dating crime" is on the rise, makes me wonder. Apparently, it made someone at MSNBC wonder as well, and she's written an article pointing out that their are creeps and criminals everywhere - and you have just as much a chance to meet one online as you do going out to a bar. While online dating has very quickly gone mainstream (which could attribute to criminals targeting online daters) it doesn't make sense to blame the technology.
