Congress Critters Stand Up To CARP

Well, it seems that all that grassroots lobbying has finally caught the attention of some folks in Congress. 20 Representatives today "urged" the US Copyright Office to reconsider the CARP plan that is supposed to go into effect next month. In case you've missed the debate, CARP designates how much online radio webasters will have to pay for streaming music and many webcasters think the fees are exorbitant. In fact, many webcasters have shut down since they know they can't afford to keep broadcasting. It's good to see some lawmakers realize what's going on, but who knows if it will be enough to save all of these web radio stations.
