IEEE Tells Authors To Ignore The DMCA

The IEEE has told authors that they're no longer requiring their authors to comply with the DMCA. Previously, authors had to sign an agreement saying that their works didn't violate the DMCA law - but the IEEE has decided it's not a big fan of the DMCA and (like just about everyone else in the community) thinks it could stifle free speech and research. Of course, that doesn't mean any author that does violate the law won't get tossed in jail for a few years, but apparently that's the risk you take doing research these days.
