April Fools Is Over

from the it's-over,-I-tell-you,-over dept

Okay. April Fools is over. I can go back at staring in disbelief at technology news knowing that my disbelief is not wasted just because someone was trying to be funny. News.com has their roundup of some of this years online jokes, and the Mercury News has their own selection. I'm happy to report that for the fifth year running, Techdirt did not run an April Fools joke. We were too busy trying to figure out which bizarre news articles of the day were genuine and which were jokes.

    Right on!

I applaud your restraint in not running April Fools articles. It is annoying and in some cases dangerous. Leave pranks to the kids.

    eBay

    by Ed

I thought eBay had a brilliant April Fools joke. Among the more obvious jokes, there was a "lose 90 lbs in 30 days" featured auction that was such a biting yet subtle satire of eBay autions I was incredibly amazed and impressed at the balls they had to make fun of themselves like that. Then I realized that it was a real auction. Doh!
