Serving Legal Documents By Email

Recently, I talked about the spammer who used Techdirt URLs and images in their spam to somehow try to associate themselves with us. Techdirt's lawyer pointed out that it would be nearly impossible to sue the spammers since we had no evidence as to where they really were. All we had was an email address. Well... perhaps things have changed now. A judge has ruled that you can now serve legal documents by email if no other method seems to work. Of course, that doesn't mean the person or company at the other end has to reply or take notice of the matter... but at least it's something. It also probably means that your lawyer's email address will end up on millions of spam lists, but I guess that's the price you pay.
