The Rising Tide Of Spam
from the it's-getting-worse dept
Yet another article about how we're all getting more and more spam these days. Here's what I don't understand: why do spammers want to keep sending spam to people who obviously don't want it? These people will never be valuable customers. Yet, the spammers continue to try to figure out ways to avoid filters and send spam to exactly the people who can't stand it. The article also has an interesting story about a spammer, "Bob", who buys email lists from sys admins of dying dot coms for a few hunded bucks a pop. Those sys admins know their company is going under, and figure selling the email lists are a way to get a little extra cash. Isn't that nice? I'm still not sure what the answer to spam is, but so far it doesn't seem like anything is working.
