Morpheus, You Look Familiar
from the morpheus-morphs-into-Napster dept
In their latest attempt to find a business model, Morpheus is looking more and more like Napster. They're suddenly saying that they're going to add some sort of copy protection as well as work with independant artists to promote and distribute their works through Nap... I mean Morpheus. Napster, of course, did all this a couple of years ago and were still shut down by the courts. While I do think that things like Morpheus are excellent distribution methods and that the music industry should embrace them for doing such a thing - somehow I don't think the music industry is ready to move in this direction just yet.
