How Bricks & Mortar Stores Won Back The Net

from the they-took-returns dept

It used to be that the answer any up-and-coming dot com etailer would tell anyone who asked about their brick-and-mortar company was "they just don't get it". And, for years, it really seemed like they didn't get it. However, now, many brick-and-mortar stores are doing quite well on the internet - and the main thing that helped them achieve this was being able to deal with returns seamlessly at their stores or online. This (according to the article) was the one major problem that many dot coms couldn't solve. Of course, I think there are a bunch of other reasons as well, including the brick-and-mortar folks learning a lot from others mistakes, but the returns concept is an interesting one.
