Simputer Almost Ready To Go
from the what-digital-divide? dept
Folks in India are getting ready to roll out the inexpensive simputer device, which they're hoping will get computers and internet access into the hands of many people who would never otherwise get access. The device is an inexpensive device, slightly larger than a handheld computer and (of course) uses Linux for the operating system. It's priced between $250 and $300, which makes it equivalent to a color TV.
