IM Startups Keep Connecting With AIM

from the the-never-ending-battle dept

News.com has a story about a company called PalTalk which has an IM client that lets people access their AIM buddies. Sounds like so many companies before them. AOL has said they plan to block them out, but the folks at PalTalk think they understand how AOL is blocking other clients out and says they're ready. PalTalk also apparently adds a lot more multimedia features to their client, making it even more useful than just plain old AIM. Even more interesting is that they charge a subscription fee, and claim that they're profitable. That's gotta piss off AOL even more. Since PalTalk is actually making money, I wouldn't be surprised if AOL starts moving towards a legal response instead of a technical one.
