Search Engine Prostitutes
from the selling-themselves-for-money dept
An SF Gate article predicting that search engines that use paid placement listings are doomed. Basically, he's saying that it brings into question the search engines' integrity - which will make them less useful, bringing in fewer users, and causing those who were paying for listings in the first place to go away. While I am against the idea of paid placement searches - they have been around for a while, and there hasn't been much of a revolt from most people. I still don't quite understand why anyone uses anything except Google for searches these days anyway.
