Aimster Becomes Madster
from the interesting... dept
In order to avoid a continuing lawsuit about the Aimster name, the company has changed their name to Madster. This is actually more silly than it seems, because the (somewhat questionable, in my opinion) argument made by Aimster from the beginning was that it was really named after the founder's daughter Aimee, as opposed to AOL's instant messenger program AIM. The problem with this argument was that the founder's daughter was actually named Madeleine (but he claims he called her Aimee). So, once again, the name Madster is named after his daughter. No matter what her name is, they've still got pictures of her up all over the site - which makes it feel like the founder is pimping his daughter to gain visitors to his site.
