Online Content Profitable?
from the is-it-possible? dept
I remember for years in the mid-90s when people kept saying about the internet that "content was king". However, as royal as that content may have been, one thing it never was was profitable. However, now, some content sites are starting to reach profitability. Of course, in general, they did this by cutting 90% of their staff or whatever other costs they could chop away. Disney's online division and the NY Times digital are both saying they've reach profitability by cutting costs and focusing on just a few areas of content.
