Barksdale Group Disbands
from the so-much-for-that-plan dept
Once again proving that having a lot of publicity doesn't mean you're definitely going to be successful, the Barksdale Group is shutting down. This was something of a "vanity VC" play built on Jim Barksdale's name that got lots of press. What's odd is that many people think Barksdale helped to destroy Netscape, so I never quite understood why people thought he had a Midas touch. Certainly, a number of the BG investments haven't done particularly well - and seemed instead to focus on giving money to his former Netscape buddies.
