Buy An Entrepreneur Wife On eBay
from the talk-about-internet-dating dept
Okay, here's a creative relationship idea. Can't find a husband? Why not auction yourself on eBay. eBay order brides. It's the next big thing. Well, actually, a woman in the UK decided that while she had accomplished plenty with her life, she was having trouble finding a husband, so she might as well find one through the world's most open market - eBay. eBay smartly pulled the auction before it could get too far. Maybe that's what's missing from all these internet dating services: bidding! Just how much do you want to date this person... the more you pay, the more likely you are to get the date. If this were four years ago, I'd bet some VCs would toss in a few million dollars to test out that idea. Anyway, I find it somewhat amusing that a 24-year-old has given up on her ability to find a husband (and that she thinks she's accomplished everything else in her life that she needs to). Anyone want to bet that this was just a publicity stunt for her own career or her business or something?

Crazy
I'm sorry, this is just insane. Accomplished everything in life at 24? Yeah, right. Almost sounds like the mindset of a depressed teenager, though somewhat inverted - 'what else do I have to live for, I've already done everything I want to'. Grow up, lady. Though I think bidding for dates/marriage would make a profitable business, especially men bidding on women, considering men are picking from a smaller and smaller pool of younger eligible women (sorry, I can't find the article that I read that in the other day).

Why marry a quarter million pound hoe?
Let's see...
24 years old
managing director of a .com startup
ebay auction with initial bid of 240k pounds.
Can you say:
VC capital dried up?
World's most expensive prostitiute?
Inept use of the press?
Trying to address her inadequacies as a managing director by getting hitched?
This loser diservers every one of the stalking weirdos that latch on to her because of this little publicity {st,c}unt.
...and for the poor bastard that actually falls for it, I only have one word:
pre-nuptiual
