Vivendi Buys Stake In Echostar
from the every-little-bit-helps dept
While it was still a bit unclear how Echostar was actually going to afford to buy DirecTV, they've just received a little help from Vivendi. Vivendi, looking for a distribution deal, has dumped $1.5 billion on EchoStar for a 10% stake, and an agreement that they'll carry Vivendi Universal's channels and content. EchoStar gets money they can use to pay off the DirecTV deal.
