Nothing like a war to suddenly interest the military in the importance of technology again, I guess. Suddenly the military is all excited about a whole variety of robots for military purposes. Unmanned airplanes are one thing, but a "robo-lobster" to pick up landminds as well as robot scouts and sentries are suddenly looking a lot more exciting for the folks in the Pentagon. Why do I have an image in my mind of an Aibo robodog wandering through Afghanistan, searching through caves?
