So, this sort of article has been appearing randomly every few weeks for the past five years or so, but here it is again. Traditional direct marketing firms are trying to figure out if they should start using email instead of sending regular junk mail. This time, there's the added benefit of not terrifying the people you're sending junk mail to, thinking they've received an anthrax-tainted package. However, many direct marketers are staying away because of the evils of "spam" (which they actually take the time to explain in the article).
