BMG To Replace Copy Protected CDs For Those Who Complain

from the complain-away! dept

Apparently, enough consumers have complained about the new copy-protected Natalie Imbruglia CD that BMG has agreed to replace copies with unprotected versions for those who complain. Of course, that sort of defeats the purpose of copy-protection when those who don't want it can just ask for a version that isn't copy protected. However, those who are asking for a new copy might just be drawing attention to themselves as potential "music pirates" for the RIAA to attack and (probably, knowing them) have arrested. While I doubt it will happen, maybe more episodes like this will convince record labels that copy-protection isn't the answer. Pissing off your customers is not the smartest way to run a business.
