The Curse Of Comdex

from the don't-believe-the-hype dept

An amusing article that looks at the many products that have been launched at Comdex only to quickly (and often spectacularly) fail. The suggestion is that the web tablet from Microsoft is likely to be the latest. Haven't we seen these web tablets come and go before? No one wants one. Anyway, the writer believes the reason for the Comdex Curse is that techies at Comdex are skeptical of anything that smacks of "marketing" as opposed to something that really is cool. Of course, on top of that, he points out that it's simply hard to sell stuff. Products launched at any time are difficult to sell, and just because they're launched at Comdex doesn't make that any easier.
