Hewlett Family Won't Put Family Stamp On HP-Compaq Deal

The Hewlett family owns about 5% of HP stock. Today they announced that they will not support the proposed HP merger with Compaq. 5% of the stock isn't enough to kill the merger, but it certainly makes a noticeable difference. Plus, symbolically, it doesn't look good.
