Metricom Finally Sold For $8.25 Million

from the wait-a-second... dept

So, Aerie Networks finally did buy Metricom for $8.25 million. They're saying they may even turn the service back on in Colorado and California. That would be nice, since I wouldn't mind being able to use my Ricochet again, but it would have been better if they were going to have it up and running all over. Also, there's an amusing quote from a Metricom representative saying that the $8.25 million was the best offer they got. That's wrong. Two months ago Aerie offered them $20 million and Metricom stupidly turned it down. These guys are so incompetent they can't even do a bankruptcy auction correctly.
