MSN.com Screwup Good For Opera
from the oops dept
Microsoft's plan to force non-IE browser-users to "upgrade" to IE in order to view MSN.com may have backfired. Folks from Opera are saying that they've had a huge increase in downloads since that began. It seems that by blocking out Opera, they let a lot more people know that there was an alternative to IE that didn't suck. While Microsoft is still claiming that the blocking of browsers was an error, I think it's amusing that their attempt to force people to switch to IE has actually made more people check out Opera.
