For a while there have been "portable" DVD players, that are about the same size as laptops. Useful for taking on airplanes, but not much else. Now, Sony is getting ready to launch a DVD walkman that seems like it's really portable. It's about the same size (maybe just slightly bigger) than a portable CD player, and includes a tiny separate LCD screen. It can (of course) also hook up to a TV. The first model will run a bit less than $1,000 - so I don't expect it to go flying off the shelves. However, as the prices start to come down, this could make a lot more sense for many people. I certainly think it would be great for travelling, and a lot less cumbersome than current portable DVD players.
